Industrial Noise & Vibration Experience

About This Project

Our experience includes measurement and evaluation of noise and vibration sources and design of noise and vibration controls for both the workplace and the community:

 

Cowichan Bay Sawmill

Duncan, BC
Detailed measurements of sawmill noise sources, week-long community noise and weather measurements using sound level meters with simultaneous audio capture and a portable weather station and development of a detailed Cadna/A noise model to predict levels at other locations and investigate different noise mitigation options. The impact was assessed according to Alberta ERCB guidelines and the results were presented to regional district, sawmill and community stakeholders.

 

Monte Rio Power Plant

Puerto Viejo, Dominican Republic
This noise assessment for power plant upgrade included analysis of the existing power plant noise and vibration levels, prediction of future construction and operations noise levels using a detailed Cadna/A noise model, impact assessment according to World Bank standards using World Health Organization (WHO) criteria and preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) report.

 

Teck Cominco Baghouse Replacement

Trail, BC
Investigation of potential noise impact on neighbouring residential areas due to removal of Baghouse building. The assessment included noise emission measurements and acoustical 3-D modeling of the area to predict the noise impact of the proposed changes.

 

Prince Rupert Grain Terminal

Prince Rupert, BC
Site survey of existing noise exposure levels throughout the facility including electrical motors, conveyors, cyclone fans, compressors, rail cars, locomotives etc. Recommendations for hearing protection.

 

Lafarge Canada

Vancouver, BC
Noise assessment of waterfront sites proposed for concrete batch plant using detailed noise source measurements, community baseline measurements and detailed predictions using a Cadna/A noise model.

 

Annacis Island Waste Water Treatment Plant

Recommendations for vibration isolation of pumps and filtration systems.
