Eric Gu graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2013 with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Eric has been involved in various projects including on-site investigations, environmental acoustics, architectural acoustics, environmental noise modelling, mechanical noise control, long-term vibration monitoring, field testing, and noise impact assessments for residential developments.
He has performed noise and vibration studies for a wide variety of projects and noise sources. Through conducting on-site measurements and industry standard analysis, he has assessed impacts from transportation, construction, industrial and commercial noise sources on sensitive receivers in the community and recommended acoustic treatment based on criteria set for the project.
Eric has experience with a wide range of acoustic and vibration measurement equipment including B&K analyzers, sound level meters, microphones and the Soundbook multi-channel real-time data acquisition unit.
He has recent experience with outdoor noise propagation modelling using Cadna/A and has used software such as SONArchitect, IBANA, Insul and Pottorff AIM for interior noise ingress and HVAC noise calculations.
Eric is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC). He has previous employment experience in China covering market research and technical sales.
Eric is currently working towards his designation as a Professional Engineer with APEGBC.
