Ping Chen is a professional engineer who holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Calgary.
While experienced in many areas of acoustics, Ping’s major interest is architectural acoustics. This includes acoustical design for schools, universities, worship facilities, recording studios, theatres, and performance spaces.
Ping has extensive experience in building HVAC noise controls, noise isolation of both interior and exterior noise sources, and vibration isolation of mechanical equipment. She has carried out a variety of noise and vibration field measurements.
Her work in environmental noise impact assessments has included a wide range of projects involving transportation, industrial, and energy facilities. She is proficient with various noise modelling software including TNM, ENM, and Cadna/A. She has evaluated exterior wall and window constructions for residential and educational developments, and has provided opinions on STC ratings of wall assemblies in residential buildings. Ping has also worked on vibration analysis and dynamic balancing of rotating equipment.
