11 Feb Welcome Phil and Trevor
BKL has added two new acousticians to its team.
Phil Miville-Deschenes, P.Eng., is a professional engineer and associate member of the Acoustical Society of America with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from École de technologie supérieure, Montreal.
From 2012 to 2015, he participated in a variety of residential, commercial and environmental projects in Quebec by performing measurements and simulations, and recommending mitigation treatments.
As a professional musician and civil engineer, he has a particular interest in room acoustics related to auditoriums and performance spaces. His expertise includes architectural acoustics, HVAC/mechanical noise control and environmental noise control with prediction of facade noise exposure.
Trevor Cheng joins BKL after two years of local and international experience in acoustics. Prior to that, he worked for over six years in the field of machine vibration analysis and condition monitoring of rotating equipment. Through this, he developed a working knowledge of a wide range of industries including manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and marine.
While in London, UK, in 2015, Trevor gained valuable acoustic consulting experience working to mitigate noise and vibration for a large renovation project at an opera house. He also conducted construction and environmental noise assessments for an airport expansion and traffic redistribution project in central London.
Locally, Trevor has worked on a number of residential development, industrial plant and transportation noise assessments. He is proficient in performing a variety of field assessments and modelling indoor and outdoor noise using 3-D software.
Trevor has a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from the University of British Columbia. He is a full member of the Institute of Acoustics in the United Kingdom, and is registered as an EIT with APEGBC.
