Buildings designed for education and research usually contain spaces to accommodate a range of activities. Some spaces are noise-sensitive (i.e., lecture theatres, libraries, classrooms, laboratories, offices), while others can be noise making (pilot plants, building services, workshops).
By taking a holistic approach to acoustical design, we can make recommendations to promote listening conditions in noise-sensitive areas and isolate noise from power plants, workshops, and HVAC and building services. In addition, we consult on vibration isolation design, which is an important consideration for any research facility that uses electron microscopes or other sensitive instruments.
