Matthew Lorimer, EIT, graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2023 with a master of applied science in mechanical engineering. After completing his thesis on modelling the acoustical properties of wood-infused concretes and an internship at an acoustical engineering consultancy in the Toronto area, he began working at BKL Consultants Ltd.
Matthew’s primary project work and experience has been related but not limited to noise and vibration assessments of traffic, rail traffic, SkyTrain, and construction. He has conducted a multitude of in-field measurements of both sound and vibration for varying projects within British Columbia and the Yukon. Further, Matthew has overtaken the design and modelling processes for numerous residential, recreational, education, healthcare, and commercial spaces.
His experience falls within interior mechanical design, room acoustics, environmental noise assessment, and vibration. His acoustic design and mitigation have been performed under national and international code primarily through the use of acoustic design software Odeon and Cadna/A with assistance from varying data processing programs and field data.
Matthew is an engineering in training (EIT) registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
