BKL Welcomes Banda Logawa

BKL introduces its newest acoustical engineer, Banda Logawa. Welcome to the team, Banda!

Banda joins BKL as a permanent staff member after a successful six-month contract with the company. Before starting his contract, Banda completed his master’s degree at the University of British Columbia, where he studied with the Acoustics and Noise Research Group (ANRG) under the supervision of the late Dr. Murray Hodgson.

As a research assistant at the ANRG lab, Banda was involved in multiple architectural and environmental projects: He studied the sound absorption characteristics of an innovative paper foam product in collaboration with the UBC Pulp and Paper Centre, determined the insertion loss of a prototype noise barrier, applied the transfer matrix model to predict the acoustical performance of various shapes and sizes of resonant absorbers, and created a mathematical model to predict the surface impedance and sound absorption of cross-laminated timber and other multi-layered wood systems.

After receiving his master’s degree, Banda has worked as an acoustical consultant on projects in a wide range of sectors, including residential, education, port facilities, transportation, and water.

Banda has experience with a wide range of measurement equipment including Brüel & Kjær, Larson Davis, 01dB Duo, and Soundbook sound analyzers. Furthermore, he has recent experience with Cadna/A outdoor noise propagation modelling.

Banda is a member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC and is currently working towards his designation as a professional engineer.
